Book Description: Philtrum Press, Bangor, Maine, 1982. Original Wraps. Book Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Signed/Limited First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. This is a complete set of the signed/limited chapbooks of "The Plant," published privately by Stephen King as Christmas presents to his closest friends/associates. Published in 1982, 1983 and 1985 in series of 226, these are extremely rare, since they were not publicly sold. All three of these editions are signed to the SAME person, a longtime childhood friend of King's, and all three copies have fairly lengthy personal inscriptions. Volume I is numbered 73, and II and III are a matching number 71. All three copies are in excellent condition, and were well taken care of over the years. These are NOT out-of-series copies. These are the real thing! Notably, they are all dated and signed 'Steve King,' (not Stephen), showing how close to the recipient King was. Signed by Author. Private Press. Book Description: Bangor Philtrum Press 1983,1985., 1985. Advance issues of two of the three parts of Stephen King's unfinished serial novel, The Plant. In the 1980s, King printed up limited editions of The Plant in three installments, from 1982 to 1985. Each book was issued separately, in editions of 226 copies, and each is a very difficult item to find these days. These are advance issues of Parts Two and Three, as follows: galley proof of Part Two, annotated in ink by King in five places, three of them signed "Steve." Includes the title page and pages 1-17, minus p. 9. 7-1/2" x 25", folded; near fine. Together with a photocopy typescript of Part Three, with annotations by King throughout in pencil and green, blue, red, black, violet and orange ink. Includes pages 1-56, minus page 50, plus the colophon and three versions of the title page; fine. Both items appear to have been working copies of the respective parts, which probably accounts in some fashion for the missing page in each, and strongly suggests that they are unique -- i.e., that it would have hindered the publication process for more than one version of either of these to have circulated, except perhaps sequentially. In any case, Stephen King manuscript material is extremely rare and seldom appears on the market; to have two of the three parts of The Plant, each annotated by hand by the author, is remarkable. We have never had, nor seen, comparable manuscript material or annotated galleys by King before. First Edition. Bookseller Inventory # 026064

Book Description: Rockport: Amesbury Hill Productions, 1980. Very Good for Working Copy/Not Issued in d/j. First Edition & Revised Edition of 2nd d. Horror, Screenplay. Signed By One Author. Amesbury Hill Productions, Rockport. [c.1980]. First edition of second draft (xerographically produced) of the original screenplay by King (not the version later filmed). This copy of this very rare screenplay was used by Dennis Etchison to make the revisions for (what turned out to be) the final draft of the original King version. Etchison's holograph (handwritten) revisions throughout with, "Marked for revision (unaccredited) 6-80 [signed] Dennis Etchison" on titl e page. Early in 1980, Dennis Etchison was aasked by Amesbury Hill Productions to do a rewrite of king's CHILDREN OF THE CORN screenplay. King was too busy to do the work and, since Etchison was alre a dy working with King on THE MIST screenplay, Etchison was the logical choice. His work on the script mainly consisted of tightening and polishing, with a few significant revisions. Unfortunately, Am es bury experience some setbacks and had to relinquish control of the property. The King/Etchison version WAS NEVER FILMED. CHILDREN OF THE CORN did finally make it to the screen, but with a grossly i nfe rior script. To our knowledge this is the only copy of this very rare King screen play to come on the market (only a small number were produced). Bound in an Acco clasp binder with Amesbury Hill P rodu ctions' label on the front cover. Binder shows wear, cfrease in front cover, script has a few tears, edges foxed otherwise very good for a working copy. WITH: (King, Stephen) [Etchison, Dennis]. CHILD REN OF THE CORN: A SCREENPLAY BY STEPHEN KING, SECOND DRAFT REVISED. Original ribbon-copy typescriptj final draft [1980]. One hundred and fourteen 8 1/2 x 11-inch leaves. SIGNED BY DENNIS ETCHIS ON on title leaf. Foliated and complete. Altough this manuscript bears Stephen King's name on the title leaf, it was rewritten and typed by Dennis Etchison based on King's second draft screenplay. As Etchis on states in his letter of provenance, "I did the work, retyping the script but using only Steve's name on the title-page.--This presumably to make a stronger impression at the studios and impr ove the chances of its being made." Fine. WITH; MEMORANDUM REGARDING CHILDREN OF THE CORN. Very good. WITH: A full-page SIGNED letter of provenance from Dennis Etchison.Fine.This screenplay is one of the SCA RCEST of Stephen King's printed items, and the Etchison manuscript, which beats King's name is UNIQUE.Together they form an incomparable stephen king collector's item. Book Description: 1975, 1975. SIGNED. KING, Stephen. 'Salem's Lot. Garden City: Doubleday, 1975. Octavo, original half black cloth, original dust jacket. $5200. Rare first edition of King's second novel, inscribed, "For Tim-Best, Stephen King, 9/9/79," in second-issue dust jacket, as always (virtually no first-issue jackets exist). King's breakthrough second novel "gave birth not only to gaggles of vampire stories. but also all kinds of creepy works in general.'Salem's Lot, because of its genuineness, its verve, its originality, its willingness to reflect, expand and celebrate its sources, and, most importantly, its establishment of Stephen King. as a pioneer in a field ripe for re-invention, was germinal and originative of the entire boom in horror fiction" (Horror 100 Best 72). "King's ability, through the overlayering of seemingly irrelevant mundane details, to generate a sense of wrongness found its first full flowering in this novel" (Clute & Grant, 537). First issue dust jackets (of which only a very few are known to exist) had the incorrect printed price of $8.95 and the incorrect "Father Cody" on the front flap. The price mistake was quickly caught while still at the printer, and prices were clipped off these early dust jackets. A new price of $7.95 was added but the incorrect "Father Cody" remained, making them second-issue jackets. Third-issue jackets were completely reprinted, with the correct price and the priest's name corrected to "Father Callahan." Fantasy and Horror 6-203. Underwood & Miller 14. Minor rubbing to edges of bright, about-fine dust jacket. A beautiful copy, desirable inscribed by King. Bookseller Inventory # 60992

Book Description: Garden City Doubleday 1975., 1975. Near Fine dust jacket. His second novel. Inscribed by King in the year of publication: "For ____, from your mother -- / I hope you enjoy it and have a Merry Christmas!" A fine copy in a near fine, corner-clipped second issue dust jacket (with the printed price $7.95 and the reference to "Father Cody" in the flap text), with modest corner rubbing and a strip of offsetting to the rear panel. A very attractive copy of this book, much better than usually found, and with the earliest King inscription we have seen in it. King's early books with contemporary inscriptions are extremely uncommon: the first printings were small and the books didn't sell particularly well, either. Also, King didn't do the extensive author tours that later became the norm for promoting books. The first printings of his novels got larger and larger but it wasn't until about 1980 that his books were bestsellers immediately upon publication. Binding is Hardcover. Book Description: Doubleday, USA, 1974. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. This is a truly unique Stephen King signed presentation copy of his debut novel. This is a true First Printing handsigned, dedicated and dated by the author. The original hardback with unclipped as new dustwrapper! The $5.95 price is intact on the jacket. The stated 'First Edition' is on the copyright page. The P6 is on the last page of text, which is a point of issue for the first issue. This is a very special inscription as Stephen King has SIGNED for Forrest Ackerman. Forrest J. ("Forry") Ackerman is a legendary figure in the world of science fiction (or "sci-fi," as Ackerman — the coiner of the term — prefers to call it). Starting as a young enthusiast of "scientifiction" in the 1930s, he went on to become a writer of sci-fi stories, an editor of the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland, an actor who appeared in more than fifty sci-fi and horror films, and an agent who represented dozens of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror writers. He is best known, however, as a fan and collector. His collection of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror memorabilia — 300,000 pieces in all — spills out of eighteen rooms in the Ackermansion, his Hollywood estate. Stephen King has dated this inscription to Ackerman on 9/9/79. 'Carrie' is Stephen King's classic first published novel and remains as one of the most desired and valuable from the famous author! The condition on this book and jacket are outstanding! The jacket is the best I have ever seen with little wear at all! The book is square with very clean boards and easily in near FINE condition!. Signed by Author. Bookseller Inventory # 000425
