Review:"Amis showed in 'Success' how he can manipulate and ironise the individual and self-protecting comedies of life into a picture of experience charged with pain and fear. But in 'Other People' the manipulation finally seems over-ambitious, and something appears to have gone wrong in the latter part of the book: the whole thing becomes factitious, obscure, unsatisfactory. It remains more of a 'Mystery Story' than, one suspects, was intended."
