JRR Tolkien
The second movie in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The
Two Towers, is now in theatres. However, don't forget that the
books came first, and if you haven't read them yet, now is the time!
Conversely, if you have read them, perhaps now is the time to treat
yourself to a signed first edition?
Born in 1892, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien grew up to be a major scholar
of the English language. His specialties were Old and Middle English,
and he worked as a professor of Anglo-Saxon (Old English) at the
University of Oxford. His most famous works are undoubtedly The
Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, stories of his fantastical
Middle-earth. Humans, elves, dwarves, trolls, orcs and hobbits inhabited
this earth, and are brought to life again in The Two Towers,
now showing in cinemas.
