Fay Weldon

Fay Weldon is currently Writer in Residence at the Savoy in London. During her residency, which lasts until January 1st, she will be working on her new novel, speaking at three monthly literary dinners, and writing for the Savoy Style magazine.

Bio: Fay Weldon grew up living with her mother, sister, and grandmother, putting the idea in her head that "the world was peopled by females." This could be why she constantly writes women as main characters; women who have often been wronged by men, but are always strong and independent. Her first novel, The Fat Woman's Joke, was published in 1967. Before then, Weldon worked as a successful ad copywriter, her most famous slogan being "Go to work on an egg.
