Bookfever.com owners Chris Volk and Shep Iiams have been selling online since 1993 and since 1998 from their rural Northern California location. They are members of IOBA (Independent Online Booksellers Association) and have been featured in several major papers including:
- The New York Times "An Upstart Upsets The Old Book Cart"
- Los Angeles Times "Writing the book on childhood treasures"
- USA Today Weekend "In Search of Pages From the Past"
- The Sacramento Bee "Remote Amador County Booksellers Thrive on Rarities"
Among their specialties are African American literature and history, modern first editions including poetry, books by women authors, mysteries, science fiction, fantasy and horror; children's books from the hard-to-find first editions of classic children's books like Curious George - to pop-up books and juvenile series, especially the popular Trixie Belden, and less well-known, but still loved authors like Augusta Huiell Seaman. They have more than 21,000 books listed online, including 15,000 first editions and almost 5,000 books signed by the author or illustrator, including some uncommon inscribed books.
Signed books from Bookfever make great gifts - and are reasonably priced - with hundreds of signed mysteries, signed science fiction and signed modern firsts under £30.00.
Plus Bookfever offers low international postage, free gift wrapping in traditional paper or reusable cloth, careful packing and very personalised service.
