Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association (PBFA)

Hosting regional book fairs for out-of-print and antiquarian books since 1974

The Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association, or PBFA for short, is a bookselling association based in the UK dedicated to facilitating the trade of rare, out-of-print and antiquarian books through a series of fairs that take place across the country. It is the largest bookselling association in Europe.

The PBFA was founded in 1974 and staged its first book fair in York. Today, the association stages more than 60 fairs stretching from Edinburgh to Edgbaston and Exeter. Books of significance are displayed in smaller towns such as Bakewell in Derbyshire, Stamford in Lincolnshire and Bridport in Dorset. The organization aims to make book collecting fun and accessible. It's common to see maps, prints and a variety of printed ephemera also on offer from PBFA sellers.

The PBFA maintains a code of practice that ensures that items are correctly described and fairly priced. Numerous PBFA booksellers list their books for sale on the AbeBooks marketplace and it's easy to find unusual and fascinating items from these sellers.

A full calendar of fairs is available on the PBFA website.

AbeBooks is proud to work closely with a number of bookseller associations around the world who are dedicated to upholding high professional bookselling standards.
