Book Description: nd the Poor-Law Institutions (Nursing) Order, 1913, Together with the Local Government Board's Circular Letter Thereon, 1914. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. First edition. A First Edition Poor-Law Institution Order for 1913. Bound in the original publisher's wraps. Includes explanatory notes, statutory enactments and provisions contained in general orders relating to control of Poor-Law institutions. The English Poor Laws were a system of poor relief that developed out of late medieval and Tudor laws before being codified in 158798. The Poor Law system was in existence until the emergence of the modern welfare state after the Second World War. With contemporary advertisements on the rear and inner covers, and on the reverse of the half-title. Condition: The binding is tight and firm. The front wrap is becoming partially detached. There is some mild wear to the extremities, with just some mild bumping and discolouration. A small section of the spine is missing at the tail, with chipping to the corresponding corner of the front wrap. There are notes in pencil to the front wrap. Internally the pages have occasional marks and spots, becoming prominent to the first couple of pages. Overall the condition is very good. Bookseller Inventory # 016859
