Thank you, Maurice Sendak.' Sendak was a dedicated collector of fine illustrated books and must have possessed a serious collection. No date, c.1965. Very good indeed. Signedes.

Pacific Northwest Ballet's production of The Nutcracker was premiered in Seattle, Washington, during the Christmas 1983 season. In working on the project, Sendak returned to E. T. A. Hoffmann's original source material and, as he noted in his introduction, "Fidelity to Hoffmann's spirit has also been my guide in this illustrated version of Nutcracker". The book, with a new translation by Ralph Manheim, was published in 1984 in both signed limited and trade editions. Quarto. Signed in pencil by the artist. The image measures 11.5 x 11.2 cm and is on a sheet measuring about 31 x 25 cm. Framed and glazed. The print was originally issued as part of a collection of loose plates under the title Pictures by Maurice Sendak and is the only one that is signed.The signature is quite faint. Fine.

Above the illustration, Sendak has written, "For Peter-Christoph Runge" and below "Oh great Pantalon! With all love Maurice Sendak May '82 Glyndebourne". Also signed by Frank Casaro who produced the opera, "The Love for Three Oranges" which Sendak did the costumes and set for at Glyndeboure in 1982. Peter-Christoph Runge appeared in the opera designed by Sendak and they became friends. A very clean and fresh copy in wrapper with slight signs of use. Also included with this is the Glyndebourne programme for that year, with covers designed by Sendak.

No Binding. Condition: New. Lithograph print by Maurice Sendak on Acid-free Paper. SIGNED PRINT. Size: 5" x 5" (130mm x 130mm). This is a print hand signed by Maurice Sendak with his beautifully flowing full signature. Sendak drew this illustration for a book published in 1968 called 'A Kiss for Little Bear'. The book tells the story of Little Bear who draws a picture for his grandmother. His Grandmother is so pleased with it that she gives a kiss to the hen to take back to Little Bear. The Hen passes the kiss on to various animals including the cat who jumps in the lake to get it from the frog. The kiss eventually gets passed between two skunks who fall in love with each other and the hen finally gets the kiss back to little Bear! The print has been tastefully framed and is set behind anti reflective glass. The paper has an ever so slight bend running vertically. The exterior dimensions of the frame are 300mm x 370mm.
