Pictorial Hard Cover. Condition: Good. Dorothy Lake Gregory (illustrator). The cover has blue cloth with goldtone letters and lines and has an illustration on a pastedown. 90 pages; 3 color plates; 4 chapters. Jimsey is an African American girl. The spine strip is a little frayed on the top corners, and its letters are very dim. A little of the front board's pastedown and decorative lines are a little rubbed. The cover's bottom edge has intermittent faded spots from shelf wear rubbing, as do the top corners. Two pages and a plate that were loose are tipped back in with glue. The Contents page has a 5/8 in. and a 7/8 in. closed tear. A plate has water stain along part of the bottom edge. If there was a fourth plate, it is missing. Scans e-mailed upon request. Standard shipping cost in the U. S. will be reduced.

Story book includes four more titles in addition to the title story, the focus being on humorous stories about animals. Illustrated by Clarence Biers. 6-3/4" X 9-1/4", 64 pages. Sturdy illustrated cove boards. Originally published in 1924, this is a later edition from 1934. Spine panel of the cover is sun faded. Corners are just slightly bumped and worn. Former owner's name on the first flyleaf page. No further writing besides that though. Binding was most likely repaired as there is binding repair tape on both the front and back paste-down pages - see photos. Age foxing dots to the top edge of the text block. Not a library discard copy. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
