Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. Small hardcover first edition with the name/address on front endpaper of Minnie Neal Barnes, presumably a previous owner. Heavy wear to black-lettered gray cloth covers, including bumped corners, edgewear and edge nicks, fraying and small tears at head and foot of spine. Front hinge severely cracked but holding (just barely) , with heavy notes in pencil and ink and glued-on newspaper clippings on related Neal family matters covering both front and rear endpapers. Rear endpapers have small holes (minor; text unaffected) , and some pages are creased. Text underlined here and there, with spotting on some pages. Frontis portraits of author and his wife are creased and foxed, black-and-white photo between pages 56 and 57 of Neal with Civil War relics, including Confederate flag; last page is small b&w photo of old Neal homeplace. 135 pages. Neal served with Company D, 12th Georgia Batallion. No DJ. ;
