Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. Not two volumes. Volume One, Part Two ONLY! Oversized hardcover. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Green cloth over boards beautifully decorated in black, red and gilt. All textblock edges gilt. Leaves slightly age-tanned. A bit of foxing to reverse of frontis, but nowhere else. Tiny spot stain and mild three inch scratch to front board. Spine ends slightly worn. A very attractive, tight copy.

Half-Leather. Good. In green pebbled cloth boards with brown calf leather corners and spines. Spines have four gilt bands and gilt lettering. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Colored frontispieces with tissue guards. Square and intact bindings. Clean and unmarked endpapers and text pages. Leather on corners and spine edges is moderately scuffed. Photos upon request. Will require extra postage. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

A stunningly beautiful set in opulent Victorian green gilt cloth with beautiful cover and spine designs in gilt, red and black, all edges gilt, and tissue interleavings to the many steel plates. The books include 800 illustrations and original descriptions by many important authors. Edges show minor rubbing; all volumes are tight, clean and unmarked. Rare.
