Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, known more widely as Francis of Assisi, was an Italian mystic and a Catholic friar who founded the Franciscans. This volume provides an account of his life and works. It was written by the Danish author Johannes Jørgensen (1866-1956), who was well-known for his biographies of Catholic saints; this work being the biography which originally distinguished him. It was translated into French by Teodor de Wyzewa. In a quarter calf binding. Externally smart, though a little rubbed to the spine and leather is splitting to the head of the front joint. Light shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned with the odd spot. Very Good. book.
