Original black-and-white single weight press photograph from the 1958 French-Italian film. Featured is director Autant-Lara giving instruction to a figure off-camera, while blonde Bardot sits in a neighboring chair. On the verso are several rubber-stamps, including photographer Limot's, a numerical notation in manuscript pencil, and the director's name and film title in manuscript ink. Based on the 1956 detective novel by Simenon, and nominated for a Golden Lion at the Venice Mostra Festival in 1958. Beautiful and naive, Yvette (Bardot) is a young female hustler who seduces her elder lawyer (Gabin). Yvette has an affair with a medical student (hunk Franco Interlenghi), all while pregnant with her lawyer's illegitimate child. The seventh film adaptation of Victor Hugo's 1831 novel, Jean Delannoy's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" was the first made in color and one of the few adaptations to retain Victor Hugo's original ending, with the skeletons of Quasimodo and Esmeralda entwined, found in the charnel house years later. Shot on location at the cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good, some light creasing, one photo with a splash at the bottom left corner, two with a small closed tear, one with a small chip on lower right.

Original French press kit for the 1961 French-Italian film, "Le rendez-vous." Text in French. Resembling the star biography and film credit packets often seen with US press kits, this material details film credits, cast and crew biographies, and a synopsis. The film was produced by Cinetel, but here is credited to publicity manager G. de Boissiere, with their cute cat logo. Unseen noir based on Patrick Quentin's 1955 novel, "The Man with Two Wives," released in France as "La Verite du Mensonge." Pierre (Pascal) witnesses a murder while with his wife Madeleine (Girardot), the decease being a photographer who snapped some lurid photos of Pierre's sister-in-law, Daphne (Parisy). Pierre gives Daphne a false alibi, and the police discover the photographer was Madeleine's lover. 22 leaves, printed rectos, a few corner-stapled, on "DEB (de Boissiere) parchment, mimeograph duplication. Housed in a DEB pocketed paper folder, 8.5 x 12.25 inches. Near Fine overall.

Original German A1 poster, circa 1953, for the 1951 French film. From the collection of noted film historian Amos Vogel. Full provenance available. Released in France as "L'auberge rouge," and based on the famous 1831 French serial murder case, the film centers around a monk (Fernandel) and a group of travelers who take refuge at inn in the mountains. The inn's host confesses to the monk that he serves poisoned soup to his guests in order to rob their possessions and later dig their graves. The monk tries to save the guest's lives without violating the holy secrecy of the confession. An uncommon poster, designed by Hans Hillmann, widely acknowledged as one Germany's top graphic designers, whose work consists of over 130 film posters and book designs. Hillmann was awarded in 1992 by the Art Director's Club in New York for illustration. Shipping billed at cost. Collection of five vintage borderless reference photographs, shot on location during the making of the 1947 French film noir. Included are: Michelene Presle revealing a French "Devil in the Flesh" street sign, a charming photograph of Gerard Philipe and Presle, Presle and Philipe posing with the cast, and two of the cast and crew celebrating with champagne. All with French annotations in manuscript ink, a blue French legal stamp, a red stamp requesting the return to the French Embassy in Brussels (in French), and each with it's own corresponding stamped number ("3442," "3443," "3444," "3445," and "3447"), all on verso. Four with an additional red stamp also requesting return to French Embassy in Brussels (also in French), also on verso. Photographs presumably were released for the film's premiere at the Festival Mondial du Film et des Beaux-Arts in Brussels on June 15, 1947. Based on the 1923 novel "Le Diable au corps" by Raymond Radiguet. Marthe, her husband Jacques on the front lines of World War I, begins a tempestuous affair with the sensitive 17-year old student Francois.
