Dustjacket is priced clipped and worn, missing a inch long, quarter inch wide piece from the top of dj. spine. Missing a quarter size piece from the back of dj. Several chips and small tears. This is a very tight copy. Owner's signature appears on front end paper. Claim-jumpers, horse thieves, vigilantes, Indian mystics, prairie "racketeers," disillusioned homesteaders, and scalp-hunting Sioux-all the stock characters of the "Western" appear in this picturesque autobiography, but with a difference, Humphrey, as traveling agent for a farm mortgage company, had the job of "mopping up" after the land boom of the 1880's in the Middle Northwest, and his unique first-hand account is, to quote the New Republic, "a valuable historical document and an excellen narrative." Listed in Six-Guns #1070.
