Condition: Good. 1951. No Edition Remarks. 43 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Black and white illustrative plates throughout. Binding remains firm. Crinkling to pages at gutters. Pages are moderately tanned throughout. Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper. Occasional foxing. Light thumb marking present. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. There is bumping to corners and crushing to spine ends. Tanning to spine and edges causing discolouration. Gilt lettering is darkened and faded. Book has a slight forward lean.
Original Wraps. Condition: Very Good. Limited. 48 page center stapled pamphlet with lavender card wrap. Text was adapted from an address delivered at the Grolier Club in NY on Dec. 12. 1961 by Hofer. Illustrations are taken from material at the Houghton Library. The edition is limited to 960 copies for members of the Grolier Club and distributed as Monograph No. 71 by the Typophiles. Lavender wrap has very very light soiling on back side, otherwise no flaws.

A vintage booklet that covers drawings that were created by Edward Lear to illustrate the letters of the alphabet, and done in devotion to his friends' children. A short introduction provides background together with a brief biography of Lear. The bulk of the booklet is the b/w drawings themselves, done in pen and ink and accompanied with short verses or limericks about each. Measures 5.5" x 8.5" with 16 pages. Originally published in 1954, this edition was from a second printing in 1965. In excellent condition.
