Hardcover. Condition: VG+. No Jacket. Reprint. This is a facsimilie reprint of Hocken's bibliography of books relating to New Zealand, which was first published by the Government Printer in Wellington in 1909. In republishing the book Newrick Associates noted that copies of the original rarely appeared on the market and that in this reprint ". every effort has been made to retain the character of the original." The reprint was limited to 1250 copies, of which this is number 734. In his introduction Hocken said "The literature relating to New Zealand is not only unusually interesting but is unusually extensive." First entry of his study relates to reports of Taman's visit in 1642. The bibliography section ends in 1908 and occupies 487 pages. This is followed by an addenda of 11 pages, then a Maori bibliography of 50 pages while a short varia section preceeds the extensive index which brings the total pagination to more than 600 pages. This fascimilie edition published in 1973, 619 pages.Brown hard covers with gilt spine titles are VG+, decorative e/papers, publisher's plate with editiion number pasted on FFEP verso, tiny stamp initials lower corner title page, text block otherwise NF. (Note:T M Hocken, 1836-1910 is remembered through the Hockern Library, based on his collection of books, other printed material, paintings, manuscripts and Maori ethnological items that were housed respectivelty at Otago University in Dunedin and at Otago Museum.) A heavy book at just over 1kg unpacked; could require additional postage for international delivery.
