Douglas Cockerell and Son of Letchworth, England, on Green's hand-made paper. The booklet was printed by N.V. Drukkerij G.J. Thieme of Nijmegen, Holland, in 11 pt Baskerville, and bound by Messrs. Delcour Bros. of Hilversum. The edition consists of one thousand numbered copies of which a limited number is signed by J. Barcham Green."--Colophon. Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Account of methods used by the commercial-scale hand papermakers J. Barcham Green. At the time of writing, the author was one of the few remaining experts on the subject, having managed the family firm since 1940. Regarded by many printers & artists as the finest English papermakers, the Green family began making paper at the Hayle Mill in Maidstone in 1810 and continued until the firm closed in 1987. Small hardcover, as pictured; no jacket, as issued. Number 985 of 1000 printed; this one NOT signed. Book shows light rubbing, corners bumped. Text clean, no names or marks. [34] pages on green-tinted paper from the Mill, 12 plates with 22 b/w photos & figures on glossy coated paper; a few other figures, one in two colours. Size: Duodecimo.
