Esemplare privo dei fogli di guardia. Si tratta di un'Opera che disquisisce degli ordinamenti religiosi e giudiziari dell'antica Roma. Ne venne attribuita per lungo tempo la paternità allo storico latino Lucio Fenestella, vissuto nel secolo di Augusto, ma ne è in realtà autore Andreas Dominicus Floccus, nome latinizzato di Andrea Fiocchi (Firenze, 1400 circa - 1452), storico e umanista. In essa si tratta eruditamente degli ordinamenti giudiziari e sacerdotali dell'antica Roma. L'unito trattato si deve all'umanista Pomponio Leto ((Teggiano, 1428 ? 1498), e affronta lo stesso argomento. 300 gr.

Bonne édition, donnée par Robert Estienne à Paris, vignette de titre à la marque des Estienne et colophon. Humaniste et archéologue, secrétaire apostolique et chanoine de Florence, Andrea Domenico Fiocco (14.?-1452) publia cet essai sous le nom de l'historien romain Lucius Fenestella. Cette étude pionnière érudite sur la magistrature et le clergé romain rencontra un très large succès à travers toute l'Europe. Ses observations, en particulier philologiques, ont ouvert la voie à une révision de l'histoire juridique romaine. (Adams, F-602. Renouard, 'Estienne', p. 75, n°21). Auréole au coin supérieur. Bon exemplaire, complet du dernier feuillet blanc.

Bel frontespizio xilografico con scene bacchiche, e grande marca tipografica al verso dell'ultimo foglio. Legatura piena pergamena coeva, Alcune note marginali ms. di mano coeva; firme e timbro di appartenenza del nobile Giovanni Francesco de Banchieri, dottore in teologia e diritto canonico e professore nell'Accademia dei Patriarchi di Venezia (fine XVI sec.), nel foglio di sguardia. Ottimo esemplare. (5489) Bella edizione di Basilea, con gustosa bordura xilografica al frontespizio nello stile di Hans Holbein, con scene bacchiche, di quest'operetta che circolò sotto il nome di Lucio Fenestella, ma in realtà del fiorentino Andra Fiocchi (ca. 1400-1452), storico e umanista. In essa si tratta eruditamente degli ordinamenti giudiziari e sacerdotali dell'antica Roma; nell'ultimo trattatello, attribuito al grammatico Valerio probo, De literis antiquis, si danno notizie interessanti sull'epigrafia e sull'arte lapidaria romana.
