Chicago Daily News, 1926, first edition and issued in limited number (number not known but at least 2,550), this copy numbered 628 and presented to Stanley Baldwin, then PM of the UK; 8vo, 160 x 235mm; pp xxii, [192]; several photogravure portraits and other plates; blue cloth gilt; ends of the spine and the corners a little rubbed but overall a good to very good copy. . . . The book consists of an introduction by Calvin Coolidge, an explanation of the focus by the author, and 13 "interviews" (some genuine interviews but also compilations of comment from then current or recent world leaders including Benito Mussolini, Ramsay MacDonald, Mackenzie King, Coolidge and others from the Philippines, Japan, China and variously Europe. It was Dorothy Parker who remarked after news of Coolidge's death was brought to the Algonquin "How could they tell?".
