First Edition
paperback. Condition: very good. Degas, Edward (illustrator). Limited. Illustrated with 40 single-sided plates (10 in color protected with tissue, and 30 in double-tone) handsomely printed in France by Les Ateliers G. Bouan & Dreux-Barry on water-marked Marais paper. 7 pages of text in French. Small 4to, original printed wrappers (spine defective; as usual the binding glue has turned brittle so all pages are sprung but present -- some glue stains at inner margin of first several pages). Paris: Quarte Chemins & New York: Shoman Art Company, (1948). First edition. Seven sheets of Marais have evenly browned, and 1 plate has minor staining in the margin, still a very good copy of this nice book, protected in the original slipcase, exceedingly rare despite the fairly large limitation. Limited edition -- number 328 of 1000 copies (500 for United States & 500 for France).
