Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. First Edition. Board rubbed with staining. Hinges broken. Rear hinge completely broken with text block separted from rear board. ; This copy with an unsigned inscription to Donald Sutherland, the Milford Sound hermit, on the title page. The inscription is in purple coloured pencil: "To D. Sutherland / Milford Sound / Sept 22 05". Also a later owner's signature and address. 206 pages. Cloth boards with title in gilt on front board. Page dimensions: 212 x 133mm. Light brick-red coloured endpapers. Page edges sprinkled in red. New Zealand regional history. Extracts relating to southern New Zealand from early sources, including early newspapers and gazettes, and manuscript volumes ("a small mutilated volume in Hobart Museum without date, but evidently alluding to the 1820 period, has the following [. . .]" - page 89). "[. . .] I visited Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne, and other places known to have had traffic intercourse with New Zealand.
