In 1912 he moved to Miles City MT, and cow punched and learned English. In 1916, Bohlin moved to Cody, WY. where he drove one of the last stage routes into the East entrance of Yellowstone National Park. He worked with both a blacksmith and a jeweler in Cody and honed his skills fabricating bits, spurs and buckles. He opened a small leather goods shop in Cody in 1920 where there was special demand for his innovative 3 piece buckle sets. Being a performer, he eventually joined a vaudeville company that took him to Hollywood. Here he met Tom Mix, who bought the coat off his back as well as his fine tooled leather boots, and travel bag. By 1922 he was living in Hollywood making silver and leather goods at his Hollywood Novelty and Leather Shop. By 1926 he had a well established business as Edward H. Bohlin, Inc. after which all leather goods, and silver were marked ?Bohlinmade, Hollywood, California? He eventually went on to become the silversmith to the stars.

Book First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Susan Einstein (illustrator). First edition. SIGNED. 223pp. Quarto [31 cm] Black cloth over boards with silver lettering on the spine and front cover. Very good. Minor wear to the spine ends and edges of the covers. The endsheets and flyleaves are slightly rippled. In a very good dust jacket, with minimal surface wear. Photography by Susan Einstein. Inscribed by James H. Nottage on the half title page to Buffalo Medicine publisher, Ernie Bulow. From the dust jacket- "Edward H. Bohlin almost single-handedly developed the style of equipment- gun belts, spurs, saddles and buckles- that helped to dress and thus visually identify such noted film heroes and horses as Hopalong Cassidy and Topper, the Lone Ranger and Silver, Roy Rogers and Trigger, and the Cisco Kid and Diablo. Many of the grand silver-and-leather outfits that he created are still used to adorn both horses and riders in Pasadena's famed Tournament of Roses Parade.".
