Book
Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. This book lays the groundwork for you to become a capable legal researcher, whether you aim to work as a lawyer, in legal policy or in an ancillary legal role. Through active learning exercises and reflective journaling you will not only learn how to research but also be able to understand your own strengths and weaknesses, to develop as a legal professional.\nReading this book will not automatically transform you into a researcher just as reading a cookbook will not make you into a chef instantly and reading a woodworking manual will not turn you into a carpenter. You learn by doing and this manual is a tool to help you get your hands dirty.\nThis edition, a successor to Legal and Justice Studies Workbook, has been largely rewritten from the ground up as a response to the changing nature of research and university learning in the ten years since the first edition. While some of the sub sections remain the same the overall approach has been altered to focus on reflective learning and on the nature of information. We are in an exciting time for researchers as the internet has entirely reshaped the research field and continues to do so. To keep up with these developments we need to ask serious questions about what information is, how we evaluate it and how we apply it in the construction of research projects. Sets the groundwork for you to become a capable legal researcher, whether you aim to work as a lawyer, in legal policy or in an ancillary legal role. Leather. Condition: Very Good. J. Beattie-Scott (illustrator). A fascinating glimpse into the world of Victorian booksellers in twelve 1894 periodicals, bound in half calf. In a half calf binding. A collection of twelve of the monthly periodicals from Brown's Book-Stall, edited by the publisher A. Brown & Co., covering the year 1894. The Christmas edition periodical for 1894 was the last one they ever published. Frontispiece depicting a the art saloon of Brown's bookshop. 1 plate depicting Dunnottar Castle by J. Beattie-Scott, supplement to "Brown's Bookstall," Xmas, 1894. Two photographs of the bookshop frontage in 1785 and 1894 accompanying the text. These periodicals contain articles about the history of book-buying and booksellers; advertisements for the various magazines they sell each month in the bookshop, and for Brown's fine art exhibition in their art saloon; descriptive portraits and obituaries of advertisers and contributors; amusing anecdotes concerning the men of Aberdeen; poetry; and book recommendations. They also contain some very charming Victorian advertisements for other companies. Alexander Brown's bookshop was opened in 1785, advertised as a "Booksellers, Bookbinders, Stationers, Circulating Library, Art Salon". Brown also served as Provost of Aberdeen between 1822-1823 and 1826-1827. In a half calf binding. Externally very smart, with a little rubbing to the spine and extremities. Hinges and joints are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, except for the odd spot to the first few pages. Very Good. book.
