This engraving was taken from "A natural history of birds: illustrated with two hundred and five copper plates, curiously engraven from the life and exactly colour'd by the author" by Eleazar Albin. This is an natural history engraving that is seldom seen for sale, highly detailed and beautifully hand-colored. The engraving measures 8" x 11" and is backed on card, original hand coloring. Title pasted at lower edges. A very rare engraving; 11.5" x 9".

The beautifully hand colored print depicts a species of Toucan believed to be native to Brazil, with a black head and wings, a yellow breast, and red body and tail. American ornithologist James L. Peters writes of the bird and Albin's engraving in "The Toucans of Linnaeus", published in The Auk Journal in 1930 by James L. Peters. "The bird resembles no resemblance to any known species: it was probably an artifact."
