First Edition
First edition. Cloth spine and plain paper boards, paper spine label, as issued. Very good copy, spine label chipped with loss of a few letters, corners of a few pages turned down, stain in margin of one page brushing the text. Illustrated with several full-page scenes of New York and stock vignettes of no particular relevance to the book. Frontispiece shows a busy street scene; there are also illustrations of a harbor scene and a steam railroad. The illustration of the railroad is used twice, once in a chapter on the Bowery, and again at a point in the book when the characters ride on it. The first occurrence seems to be an error or a make-do. Unusually nicely preserved children's book in its original binding.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. All illustrations called for (23) are included in this publication including the frontispiece. However, it should be noted that in the listing of the illustrations "Antonio's Picture is actually on page 185 not 187 as listed. This book is in Very Good- condition.
