Trade Paperback. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Exceptionally rare - the only recorded surviving copy of any edition of this mid-19th century Ohio children's book. Illustrated with 6 hand-colored lithograph plates by pioneering Cincinnati lithographer Otto Onken (1815-1897). There were two editions of this title, 1852 and 1856, and Worldcat records no surviving copy of either. The hand-colored plates are vibrant and bright (though some have marginal tears, minor stains). The hand-sewn text begins at the title, and ends at page 40. If a wrapper was present, it is lacking (the earlier known copies - now lost - are said to have had boards). There are tears, chips, and stains to leaves at front and rear, and marginal tears, stains and wear to the balance of the text. This rarity requires and merits conservation. Description: 6 Hand-Colored Lithograph Plates By Otto Onken.
