Some loss to paper spine. Spine taped with archival paper tape.; iv, (73)-114 pages. Printed paper wrappers. Uncommon. A list of books (including many pamphlets) collected by the author and presented to the institute, including short notes on some of the titles. Many relate to the New Zealand Company. Lengthier notes describe the circumstances of acquistion of a select few titles. "Strange to say, since I commenced to form this collection, I have never, till now, met with a single volume of the New Zealand Journal. They say, 'everything comes to him who can afford to wait'; so, after waiting for nearly ten years, I have become possessed of eight volumes out of the twelve. I, perhaps, may procure the remaining four volumes. In 1850, I took with me to New Zealand the series of the New Zealand Journal, in numbers; but they got burnt in Wellington, being mistaken for waste paper." - page 110. A letter from George Grey referring to the first part of the catalogue is quoted in the introduction: "I thank you very much for your valuable Catalogue; but you have made an extraordinary mistake. You state - 'I have now but to say that my book collecting days are over, and my work in this line is done.' Alas, you do not know yourself, you will soon be at it again."; 8vo.
