Original civil war newspaper including much content on the battles. Also, an advertisement for Mary Provost's Theater stating it is the last night with JOHN WILKES BOOTH playing Richard. A couple of ads up is one for Laura Keene's Theater. It was, of course, during a performance by Laura Keene in Washington in 1865 that Booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln. The war content of this newspaper tells about the Battle of Winchester which involved Ashby's Cavalry. News about "Emancipation in Washington, D.C." Extracts from the Southern newspapers including news about the Confederate Senate and a million dolloars budgeted for the Confederate Navy. Another interesting ad tells of an alleged bullet proof vest for sale. This large format original newspaper from 1862 is in nice collector condition. Enclosed in large archival plastic bag (can be removed easily). Fascinating primary source material on the Civil War era. Size: Elephant Folio, 8pp. Bookseller Inventory # 2779
