Tan cloth with black lettering. Bump and light fray to head and heel of spine, tips of corners bumped and rubbed. Spine darkened and with four small spots of soil. Text is clean and bright, no marks, lightly and evenly tanned. "Ostrander turns her tales outso rapidly that she has seen fit to write under several pseudonyms and has gained followers as Robert Orr Chopperfleld, Douglas Grant and David Fox."Liberation" is a naive and incredible story of a sheltered young girl, who is so impressed with the'sincere manner' of an escaped convict that she compels her fiance to hold him against his will, and ardently takes up the task of proving him, innocent in the face of all sorts of difficulties. The story is quite exciting if one can accept the situations, and Miss Ostrander has a certain, glib superficiality. The heroine, Mary Greenough, is a typical sweet little womanly woman, whose innocence and lack of mentality are likely to annoy the most casual reader. Indeed, when the villain shows his true colors to her, long after the reader realizes his perfidy, and says, "You're not conceited enough to think I fell in love with a simpering little fool like you, are you?" one is likely to indulge in a joyous chuckle that the story might otherwise fall to elicit. "(from a 1924 review in the Daily Eagle). Bookseller Inventory # A90412
