TRANSLATOR'S BIO: Translator Benedicttsson was a noted Icelandic-Canadian feminist writer and activist and colleague of western Canadian feminist, Nellie McClung. For a time, she and her husband Benedict ran a printing company in Selkirk, Manitoba - and published the feminist journal Freyja, the first woman suffrage paper in Canada, for which she wrote many contributions dealing with the condition of women.
