This is a beautiful Near-Fine condition 1st printing of the Revised edition of this landmark volume which is packed with great illustrations, photographs, and diagrams. A reviewer for the July 30, 1914 issue of the scientific journal Nature, wrote: "This important work is, perhaps, the most successful attempt that has yet been made to bring within reach of the lay reader a general account of the past history of the Mammalia." This copy, in dark green cloth over boards, with a gilt image of a saber-tooth tiger on the front cover, is square, solid, and with tight pages. Completely clean and unmarked inside, the covers and spine are equally clean but there are a few light rub marks on the covers and a few light smudges on the outer page edges. None of the corners are bumped and there isn't even a hint of rub wear to the edges or corners. No dust jacket is present. We will pack this book in bubble-wrap and ship it in a box to insure safe delivery. This book is very heavy and would require additional funds for shipping to Canada, Mexico, or overseas.
