About the Author:
Formany years Diksha McCord was the head chef at The Expanding Light, Ananda's retreat center. Shelearned vegetarian cooking while growing up in Israel. Later she lived inJapan, where she became familiar with Japanese cuisine, and then in California,where she explored macrobiotic, vegan, and Ayurvedic cooking.
Dikshais the author of two other cookbooks: Global Kitchen and VegetarianCooking for Starters. She created and hosts Online Vegetarian Cooking for Healthand Vitality,a four-season video series.
Aresident since 1993 of Ananda Village, a spiritual cooperative community in thefoothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Northern California, Diksha servesas a minister and teacher at The Expanding Light, where she also directs theAnanda MeditationTM Teacher Training. In addition, she and herhusband, Gyandev, lead workshops in many locations around the world.
Afterreceiving her BS in Biology from Hebrew University, she spent four years inmedical research. Later she earned her BFA from Israel's Bezalel Academy ofArts and Design, and received numerous awards for her work. Diksha also spentthree years in a master's program at Kyoto Art University in Japan.
