Blue cloth with gilt stamped design and 4 color picture of elephant on front panel and gilt stamped lettering and decorations on spine; tissue guarded frontis of Mark Twain; 712 pp. First issue with single publisher's imprint on title page and signature "11" at bottom of page 161. The edges are mildly worn, the blue panels rubbed and the front hinge is weak. There is an inked name at the head of the title page, a stamped ownership name and address on the bases of the title page, and there is light perimeter toning and occasional soiling throughout.
