Title: VON DEUTSCHER FILMKUNST GEHALT UND GESTALT
Publisher: Berlin: Hermann Scherping, 1943
Publication Date: 1943
Illustrator: Profusely Illustrated With Black and White Stills from German Movies Made During WWII
Book Condition: Very Good
Edition: 1st Edition
Fascinating though discomforting look at movies made in Germany during the height of WWII. Mostly the movies reflect the Hitler regime's interest in promoting the idea of a great German "Fatherland" with emphasis on films of an historical nature. There are a sprinkling of movies made for their entertainment value with the actors all looking quite Aryan. Then, there are a couple of disturbing photos of what are obviously unflattering caricatures of Jews. Also some movies with military themes. An unusual look inside the Third Reich, and a book not commonly found outside of Germany. Cloth fraying at the edges of the spine but internally a tight and clean copy. Bookseller Inventory # 1857
