Binding poor, with the spine cloth torn for 4 1/2" at the top of the front joint, and then torn across the face of the spine, so that the upper half of the spine cloth is becoming detached. 1/2" chip to cloth at head of spine. Rubber stamp of "The New Zealand Institute Wellington" on half-title page and title page, and also transferred on to the blank margin of the frontispiece. Front hinge broken. Text block in good condition. ; This is Volume Two only, lacking both Volume One and the folio plates volume. vii, [1], (467)-821, [1] pages + iv page list of subscribers + lithograph frontispiece plate (Original Design for the Conway Bridge) + 8 plates + in-text illustrations. Original blind-stamped blue cloth boards. Page dimensions: 244 x 149mm. This copy with a paper label on the front endpaper: "Presented by [M?]. Stephenson to [?] C. R. Carter 1867".
