Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+

Hard Cover. Very Good+/Very Good+. First Edition. 5.25 x 8.50". Blue cloth with gold stamping to spine. Jacket has a "blue denim and white lace" design with white lettering. Text has mild bump to top right corner; four pages are dog-eared; one page has crimp to fore-edge; otherwise a clean tight copy with no other signs of use. Jacket has some very light foxing to rear panel, some wear to top edge, half-inch closed tear to top of front flap fold, some chipping to top of spine, but overall looks good, with good color, no fading; price is intact. This book originated as a series of staff devotionals and a course on character building at the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, in which Hyles outlined his philosophy. "For many years the author has incorporated the philosophies included in Blue Denim and Lace in his personal life and in his ministry. Many of these philosophies he had shared with no one. Then he felt impressed to teach a course on character building to his Wednesday night congregation. Not long after, he started a series of staff devotionals where he discussed some of these sacred philosophies with his paid staff of fifteen workers. Soon requests came from the large congregation of the First Baptist Church of Hammond that Dr. Hyles put his character teaching lessons in print. One by one, staff members came and said, 'These philosophies should be shared with thousands.' After coercion from the staff and congregation and after much prayer and consideration, Dr. Hyles presents his philosophies of life to you." 175 pages. Edition not stated but this is apparently a first; no later-printing information is included. Size: 5.25 x 8.50". Bookseller Inventory # 000938
