Michael Sumichrast, now retired, was the chairman of the board of Eastbrokers International, Inc. The author of several books dealing with financial issues, his work has also been published in the Washington Post and the Washington Star.
Martin A. Sumichrast is a born entrepreneur. At the age of twenty-six, he founded Global Capital Partners, which he grew into a multinational, full-service investment banking firm. Today, he manages the venture capital and business advisory firm Lomond International, Inc.
Michael Sumichrast is Chairman of the Board of Eastbrokers International Inc., a U.S. public company listed on NASDAQ with headquarters in Washington, D.C. The company is engaged in corporate finance, brokerage, privatization, mergers and acquisitions, and direct investments in Central and Eastern European countries. Eastbrokers is a member of stock exchanges in Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey, and Kazakhstan. Dr. Sumichrast studied industrial engineering in Czechoslovakia, continued his studies at Melbourne University in Australia, and received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. For six years he was a professor at American University. Sumichrast wrote a weekly column for the Washington Post and housing-oriented articles for the Washington Star. Martin A. Sumichrast has been a born entreprenuer and business builder. Since 1986, as a junior in college, he began working with his father, Dr. Michael Sumichrast, in the real estate development business. In the early 1990's, Mr. Sumichrast career turned to the investment banking and securities business. In 1993, at the age of 26, Mr. Sumichrast started his first publically traded company, Global Capital Partners (NASDAQ:GCAP), which he grew into multi national, full service investment banking firm, which in early 2000, employed over 300 people in nine countries and managed over USD1 billion in over 40,000 customer accounts. Mr. Sumichrast has also served on various boards of companies, both private and public and has acted as investment banker in over USD100 million dollars of transactions. Mr. Sumichrast now manages a private venture capital and business advisory firm, Lomond International, Inc based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Sumichrast holds a Bacholors Degree in Economics from the University of Maryland.
