About the Author:
Robert W. Smeaton is an electrical consultant and the former editor of the Allis-Chalmers Engineering Review. He has held positions with Square D and Allis-Chalmers, specializing in the design, development, and evaluation of motors, electrical controllers, and switchgear. Mr. Smeaton is also editor-in-chief of McGraw-Hill's Motor Application and Control Handbook.
William H. Ubert is an electrical consultant, who has acquired a wide range of electrical engineering experience working for Collins Radio Company, Allen-Bradley, General Electric, the Miller Brewing Company, and other organizations.
