Blood Red Horse is the first book in the de Granville trilogy. Green Jasper begins 3 weeks after Blood Red Horse ends and Blaze of Silver, which will come out in 2007, begins a few months after Green Jasper closes, so all three books, as well as standing alone, make one continuous story. I have just finished writing Blaze of Silver and have grown so fond of Will, Gavin, Ellie, Kamil and, of course, Hosanna, that I found it hard to say goodbye to them.History! What else is it but a giant story? And I am very lucky, because my family history has been written down so that I am always bumping into ancestors who have done strange things. They must have gone on crusade. Then, in 1746, one was executed in the gristliest possible way, and the travels of his head, before it was eventually reunited with the body, are the subject of my next book, to be published in 2006, called How The Hangman Lost His Heart. Another relation managed to tell Napoleon all the things he needed to know before he escaped from Elba. With ancestors like these, I had a cast of characters ready and waiting with which to people my books. Not just nice people either.
