Heraklion Blue is a story about British Forces, specifically a fictional Alpha Company of 40 Commando Royal Marines, in the contemporary Congo, in a modern low-intensity conflict and forms the third part of a trilogy, the first two books being 'Kings Shilling' and 'Long reach'. I found it somewhat unreal that the day this book was published, the MoD annouced that elements of 40 Commando Royal Marines would be deployed in the anti terrorist allied attacks in Afghanistan. I was honoured to spend time with 40 Commando while researching this book and two things come to mind. First was that I hope and pray the lads come home safely, and second that the Taliban have not faced a foe like this. Not ever.

About the Author:

Mike Lunnon-Wood was born in Africa and educated in Australia and New Zealand. He worked in the Middle East for ten years, and now lives in West Sussex and has a young son. To research this book, he spent time with the Captain and crew of HMS Birmingham, and with the real Alpha Company 40 Commando Royal Marines.
