About the Author:

Margaret Mahy qualified as a librarian and has had various appointments in children's libraries. She still visits schools and libraries and is apt to don a green wig - she describes herself as "a bit of an exhibitionist". Her books, for children of all ages, have been published in many languages. She has won the Carnegie Medal twice, for THE HAUNTING and THE CHANGEOVER, the Observer Fiction Award and the New Zealand Esther Glen Award five times. Margaret lives in the South Island of New Zealand.
