VLADIMIR NABOKOV was born in St Petersburg in 1899, and having moved to the United States in 1940, he pursued a brilliant career as a poet, novelist, critic and translator. His monumental piece was Lolita. He died in 1977 in Switzerland.
DMITRI NABOKOV, the author's son, studied at Harvard University, and has translated most of his father's works into English. He lives in the United States.
