About the Author:
Kahlil Gibran, poet, philosopher and artist, was born near Mount Lebanon in 1883. Considered the genius of his age by millions of Arabic-speaking peoples, his fame and influence have spread far beyond the Near East. His poetry has been translated into more than 20 languages, and his paintings have been exhibited all over the world. He was for many years the leader of a Lebanese literary circle in New York, where he died in 1931.
