About the Author:

Margaret Mahy qualified as a librarian and has had various appointments in children's libraries. She still visits schools and libraries and is apt to don a green wig - she describes herself as "a bit of an exhibitionist". Her books, for readers of all ages, have been published in many languages. She has won the Carnegie Medal twice - for THE HAUNTING and THE CHANGEOVER - the Observer Fiction Award and the New Zealand Esther Glen Award four times.
