About the Author:
Damon Runyon was born in Kansas in 1884 and grew up in Colorado. As a teenager he wrote articles for the local newspapers and, at the age of 14, he enlisted in the Spanish-American war. He returned to work on various newspapers and became a sportswriter for the New York American in 1911. Runyon's stories are famous for their individual style and grew out of his knowledge of the amiable low-life of Broadway and the New York sporting scene.
Synopsis:
