Book Description Paperback. Condition: Good. 275pp Lightman, an independent QC, was commissioned by the NUM to investigate media reports that Scargill had used Libyan money to pay off his mortgage during the 1984-5 miners' strike and had diverted a £1 million donation from the USSR to a Dublin trust fund. Lightman's Report was critical of Scargill but found the mortgage allegation untrue but advised the NUM executive to sue its leaders over the Soviet money. Soviet sources later showed Soviet leaders had diverted the funds. Lightman and Penguin were sued, successfully, by the NUM on the grounds that the Report wass their property. Unsold copies of the book were to handed over to the NUM - hence it is now uncommon. Crease to back cover; owner's name inside. Seller Inventory # 075895
