Specific Skills for Reading Teacher’s Manual
The new Specific Skills for Reading Teacher’s Manual supports the Specific Skills for Reading program. This program was designed to develop nine crucial reading skills: Identifying Cause and Effect, Comparing and Contrasting, Drawing Conclusions, Identifying Fact and Opinion, Finding Details, Getting the Main Idea, Making Inferences, Sequencing and Phonics. Each skill is developed through a series of books that spans ten levels (Picture, Prep, A—H) starting with those who have yet to acquire basic sight vocabulary.
The sixth edition of the Specific Skills Series for Reading maintains the quality and focus that has distinguished this program for more than 40 years. It varies in content and contains both fiction and nonfiction stories aligned to meet today’s curriculum. Using relevant subject material, the new contemporary look appeals to readers of all ages and the topics are designed to stimulate and motivate the interest of students.
TheTeacher’s Manual includes instruction on a variety of teaching methods including Placement, Group/Individualised Approach and Book Use. Reproducible Blackline Masters and a reduced version of the Class Record Sheet are also included.
