Why we wrote this book and what we hope you gain.
When I was a young man living a somewhat chaotic life as a professional musician, I became interest in all forms of personal growth. In much of what I read the heart consistently showed up as an important aspect of many systems.

I had the good fortune of meeting a man named Doc Childre who was studying this aspect of human nature and had a lot to say about how to have more "heart" in your life and why it was essential to develop the qualities associated with the heart. Not being particularily "touchy feely" kind of guy, I was especially impressed with Doc's common-sense approach to his work and I began a serious study of the heart.That was 28 years ago.

The HeartMath Solution presents a comprehensive overview of Doc Childre's HeartMath system giving you a new and exciting understanding of the intelligence of the heart, how and why it works, how to develop it and how it has been and can be used to greatly improve life.

It is in part a description of the research on the heart, as a source of intelligence, conducted by the Institute of HeartMath, an organization founded by Doc that I also helped create and now serve the Institute in a consulting capacity.This research is important because it grounds the material with emperical evidence of an intelligence harbored within the hearts of all people.

From this research, effective tools and techniques have been developed that give people a practical way to unfold this intelligence within themselves. Since the Institute was founded in 1991 we've trained thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations including Fortune 500 companies, the military, school systems and medical institutions in these techniques. The results have been substantial and we know without a doubt that The HeartMath Solution works. In this book we offer several of our techniques along with many stories from our lives and the lives of others who have seen significaty changes in their health, mental and emotional balance, productivity, relationships and in their overall sense of fulfillment.
