‘First in a field of one’ Literary ReviewFrom the Back Cover:
Bruce Medway, go-between and fixer for traders in steamy West Africa, smells trouble when a porn merchant asks him to deliver a video at a secret location. Things look up, though, when he's hired to act as minder to Ron Collins – a spoilt playboy looking for diamonds – in the Ivory Coast. Medway thinks this could be the answer to his cashflow crisis, but when the video delivery leads to a shootout and the discovery of a mutilated body, the prospect of retreating to his bolthole in Benin becomes increasingly attractive – especially as the manner of the victim's death is too similar to a current notorious political murder for comfort.
His obligations, though, keep him fixed in the Ivory Coast and he is soon caught up in a terrifying cycle of violence. But does it stem from the political upheavals in nearby Liberia, or from the cut-throat business of diamonds? Unless Medway can get to the bottom of the mystery, he know that for the savage killer out there in the African night, he is the next target…
“The action is furious and the one-liners . . . would have made even Raymond Chandler jealous”
“If I come across as original and blackly funny a thriller again this year, I’ll feel myself doubly blest”

Book Description Collins Crime, 1996. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. This is a fine, signed first edition, first printing hardback. The book is without major fault or blemish. The page block is tight and square with slight age toning to the edges of the page block (much less than is usually the case with this particular book that seems to have been printed on very poor quality paper). The only writing is Mr Wilson’s bold signature to the title page. The boards are pristine as is the gilt lettering to the spine. The unclipped dust wrapper is also fine; crisp, bright, complete and unmarked. The cover price of £14.99 remains intact. The dust wrapper is now protected by an acid free removable archival cover. The book presents as new and almost certainly unread. This is the author’s second and fabulously rare second book. It also forms the second volume of the four volume ‘Bruce Medway’ series. The unlikely location of Benin works extremely well as does the enigmatic character of the hero, Bruce Medway. A small print run and a cult following results in the rarity of this book. Also, Mr Wilson seems to have signed very few of his works. Seldom offered in this outstandingly good condition, this book will enhance any collection or library of rare modern first editions. The images you see are high resolution scans of the actual book. The book will be dispatched via the Royal Mail in protective packaging. We do not charge postage to buyers within the UK. We offer a 7 day no quibble full refund if the item is not as described and shown. Signed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # 1386
